A husband and grandfather from Leicestershire has won £10,000 every month for a year after matching five main numbers in The National Lottery’s Set For Life draw on Monday 10 August 2026.
The winner, who plays online, has always bought the odd ticket here and there. He checked on the night of the draw fully expecting to have won nothing and couldn’t believe it when he saw he’d won. He barely slept until he was able to call in and make sure it was real.
He said: “Wow, just wow – are you sure it’s real? That’s honestly all I could say! I checked expecting nothing at all, so to see a win like this was the most incredible shock. It took a good night without much sleep and a phone call before it finally started to sink in.”
Shannen Smith, Winners’ Advisor at Allwyn, operator of The National Lottery, congratulated the winner, saying:
“Congratulations to our lucky Leicestershire winner. He checked on the night of the draw expecting nothing, so what a wonderful surprise this must have been! With a monthly boost for the year ahead, we wish him and his family all the very best.”
Players can buy and check their tickets online by downloading the National Lottery app or at national-lottery.co.uk. They can also buy and check tickets in retail. Playing online via the app or website means that your ticket is automatically checked, and you get an email notification if you win a prize. You can also scan your retail tickets on the National Lottery app to check if you’re a winner.
Playing any National Lottery game is more than just a chance to win; it’s a way to contribute to something much bigger. Each week, players help generate around £33M for National Lottery-funded projects. With over £53BN raised for Good Causes since launch, this funds hundreds of projects in every postcode area across the UK. From supporting the arts and sport sectors, to empowering local community groups and preserving iconic British landmarks, players’ participation makes a difference every single day.
